I'm a one-man shop, unlike some multi-inspector firms where you can't be sure of the qualifications or ability of the inspector that is sent out on the day of your inspection. Not all inspectors are created equal, and many lack experience, have not received adequate training, and are short on continuing education and qualifications.
As president of Ridge Home Inspection, Inc. you will be working directly with me, Ken Salvo, as I inspect your prospective home. I've inspected thousands of homes since 1993, and I'll systematically do a non-intrusive, visual inspection of the home--from roof to foundation-- searching for indicators of any defective components.
The inspection will be performed in conformance with the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety - Division of Consumer Affairs Statutes and Regulations as established by the Home Inspection Advisory Committee. This is not an appraisal or a municipal code inspection. After checking the exterior, siding, grading, foundation walls, roof, driveway, deck, etc. we'll move inside. Here, we'll examine the visible portions of the structure, including walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and windows. The heating, air-conditioning,* plumbing, and electrical systems will all be examined to insure that they function as intended. Bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms receive a thorough check, along with the attic and basement or crawl space. Here's a partial list of the many items we'll be inspecting:
